Making Friends with Netflix
Okay, so the only place close to rent movies is
our supermarket. And it's not like Blockbuster or Hollywood Video
where you can rent a video for 2-5 days. It's a 24 hour turnaround,
and it's not cheap either. Since we like movies, and we received
a gift cetificate for Netflix, we're hooked.
The best way to keep in touch with your cinema
culture out in the boonies IS Netflix. All of the movies we hadn't
seen we've seen. Except for the ones we haven't seen yet but then
we'll see those too. Their database works like a charm and it's
been relatively painless.
If you're lookin' for a movie and don't know what
to rent, here's our recent list of viewed items, maybe you ought
to check them out. I'm not a film critic, I've got friends who are.
Yes there are a lot of films I never got around to seeing in the
theater. Some should have been viewed on the big screen...
Born into Brothels 2004, (Wonderful)
Second Hand Lions 2004, (Husband identified with Rober Duvall)
Good Night and Good Luck 2005, (FANTASTIC!)
Punch-Drunk Love, 2002 (very enjoyable)
Batman Begins, 2005 (surprisingly great)
The Fog of War, 2003 (Really Good)
The Conversation, 1974 (Interesting)
The Royal Tenenbaums, 2001 (good)
Rushmore (Great!)
The World of Apu, 1959 (loved it! Need to rent the first two)
Adaptation, 2002 (great)
Sideways, 2004 (great)
Sin City, 2005 (sick wrong and twisted...a must experience)
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, 2004 (typical but great eye
candy)
Crash, 2005 (Sandra Bullock was fantastic)
Fantastic Four, 2005 (typical but very enjoyable)
Lords of Dogtown, 2005 (ummm...Vals go Home)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, 2005 (Johnny Depp scared me)
Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, 2002 (son liked it)
Waking Ned Devine, 1998 (loved it)
Whale Rider, 2003 (loved it)
National Treasure, 2004(could have been about 1000 times better)
Hedwig and the Angry Inch, 2001 (loved it...not for the squeemish)
Network, 1976 (if you haven't seen it in 30 years, you need to see
it again.)

I can't wait for the following
in my "Queue":
-
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
(I believe I'm on a George Clooney kick, mmmmm George Clooney)
-
It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (My
dad was an extra and I believe he played hooky from work to
be an extra and that really hacked off my mom. But I will enjoy
mindlessly freeze framing it to find him...sometimes in the
holler you've got extra time to do silly things like that)
Waiting patiently for Syriana
to be released.....
